Opening, Spring, 1881. This card was found in the New England area,

This is a beautiful Oriental themed trade card with a peacock
and a young Japanese boy advertising a spring millinery event

Sanders, NH Name written on card: Your Friend & Teacher
M.F. Sanders, Wilmot Flat, 1861, written in old dip pen ink. Wilmot
Flat, New Hampshire is in Merrimack County. This is a small coated
card stock from the Civil War era is hand tinted or colored, and
a reward of merit type card or calling card. It has the verse: "Should
sorrow o'er thy brow, its darkened shadows fling, and hopes that
cheer thee now, die in their early spring; Should pleasure at its
birth, fade like the hues of even, turn thou away from earth, there
rest for thee in heaven." A wonderful Sanders family history piece,
from a teacher. It is unusual to find a location written on these

MA. It exhibits great 19th c. typography. The Furber
pump attachment causes the handle to "play
tight" to prevent boys and others from putting

card is made out to: F.E. Young from Headquarters
Gen. W.T. Sherman Camp No. 65 in Athol, Mass,
dated April 7-8, 1931, to be an alternate at
the encampment of Boston. The card is signed
by W.C. Ward, commander, and George H. Sawyer,
(George Sawyer) secretary. There is an embossed seal on the card
from the Sherman Camp. Athol, Massachusetts,
is in Worcester County and Boston is Barnstable,

Fair, 1883, Mrs. Sarah VanDuzer, 583 Broad
St. (Near Central Ave.) Newark, N.J. Newark,
New Jersey, is in Essex County. This is a wonderful
old litho advertising trade card for a women
run business, quite unusual in those times.
It depicts children forming a large sculpture
in blue inks. The back has a lengthy description
of a prize winning bed sold at the Sarah Van
Duzer store in Newark. There is a Waverly
in most states in the US. We found evidence
of the Waverley Fair grounds in Waverley NJ
at link included in this listing. Currently, Waverly
no longer exists and is part of Elizabeth, NJ in Union
County. There was a well know fair grounds there. Waverly
Fairgrounds (also called Waverly Park) was the home
of the Elizabeth Resolutes baseball team of the National
Association, baseball's first major league, in 1873. The
park was located in the no-longer-existing town of
Waverly, New Jersey, bordered by Lower Road, Haynes
Avenue, and Frelinghuysen Street. The site is now split
by Weequahic Park in Newark and B'nai Jeshuron Cemetery
