This card was found in the New England area, around Sunderland, Massachusetts, in Franklin and Worcester Counties. This is a beautiful Oriental themed trade card with a peacock and a young Japanese boy advertising a spring millinery event at the Stratton Brothers Store. A wonderful Stratton family history piece. 2052 Sanders: 1861 Reward of Merit Card from Teacher M.F. Sanders, NH Name written on card: Your Friend & Teacher M.F. Sanders, Wilmot Flat, 1861, written in old dip pen ink. Wilmot Flat, New Hampshire is in Merrimack County. This is a small coated card stock from the Civil War era is hand tinted or colored, and a reward of merit type card or calling card. It has the verse: "Should sorrow o'er thy brow, its darkened shadows fling, and hopes that cheer thee now, die in their early spring; Should pleasure at its birth, fade like the hues of even, turn thou away from earth, there rest for thee in heaven." Peoria, Iowa is in Mahaska County. There is a chunk out of right bottom of card, all text can still be read. This is a beautiful litho card with two young people pulling a toboggan, ready to go sledding. Found in Upstate New York, near Livingston, Ontario and Monroe Counties NY. 2056 Chase, Furber: c. 1890's Advertising Trade Card for Chase Brothers, NH Names printed on card: Chase's Improved Wood Pump with Furber's Patent Handle Attachment. Chase Brothers, No. Londonderry, N.H. North Londonderry, New Hampshire, is in Rockingham County. This advertising card was found in Franklin County, Western Massachusetts, MA. It exhibits great 19th c. typography. The Furber pump attachment causes the handle to "play tight" to prevent boys and others from putting in sticks stones and other obstacles. Sherman Camp No. 65 in Athol, Mass, dated April 7-8, 1931, to be an alternate at the encampment of Boston. The card is signed by W.C. Ward, commander, and George H. Sawyer, (George Sawyer) secretary. 2059 Van Duzer: 1883 Advertising Trade Card for the Sarah Van Duzer Store, NJ Names written on card: Won 1st premium prize at the Waverly Fair, 1883, Mrs. Sarah VanDuzer, 583 Broad St. (Near Central Ave.) Newark, N.J. Newark, New Jersey, is in Essex County. This is a wonderful old litho advertising trade card for a women run business, quite unusual in those times. It depicts children forming a large sculpture in blue inks. The back has a lengthy description of a prize winning bed sold at the Sarah Van Duzer store in Newark. There is a Waverly in most states in the US. We found evidence of the Waverley Fair grounds in Waverley NJ at link included in this listing. Currently, Waverly no longer exists and is part of Elizabeth, NJ in Union County. There was a well know fair grounds there. Waverly Fairgrounds (also called Waverly Park) was the home of the Elizabeth Resolutes baseball team of the National Association, baseball's first major league, in 1873. The park was located in the no-longer-existing town of Waverly, New Jersey, bordered by Lower Road, Haynes Avenue, and Frelinghuysen Street. The site is now split by Weequahic Park in Newark and B'nai Jeshuron Cemetery in Elizabeth. A wonderful Van Duzer family history or vanDuzer family history and early New jersey historical piece.

This has a great old litho scene entitiled "A Scene on Old Gotham" which shows a couple dancing, a policeman taking a child out the door, and a man laughing off to the side who looks like he has had too much to drink. Found in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, MA.The card advertises, on the back, the goods at Brown's Gents store, including silk hats repaired, and the selling of trunks, bags, robes and blankets.
