card is a Dime Share in the
Emergency Fund of the American Home Missionary Society. It
is made out to Ruth A. Hazelton, who has taken a one dime share.
The officers of the organization that appear in signature
form are: David B. Coe, Hon. Sec., Alex H. Clapp, Treas., Walter
W. Barrows and Joseph B. Clark, Secs. (Census records

May of 1826, and lasted until around 1893, when it split to

backmark which depicts an architectural scene of Smyth
Block in Manchester, where the photo was taken. It
is a large city block size brick building , with 3
flags on top. Quote from the 1856 Book: The History
of Manchester, Formerly Derryfield, N.H. by C.E. Potter:
"SMYTH BLOCK is 144 feet in length by 100 feet in depth,
and four stories in height. It is upon Elm, between
Spring and Water streets. The first story is of cast
iron in front, and above, the walls are of brick, stuccoed
so as to imitate white marble. The imitation is perfect,
and the building makes a splendid appearance. It was
built by Messrs. William Patten, Frederick Smyth, and
Daniel W. Fling (Daniel Fling), and is now owned by
Messrs F. Smyth, and William Richardson.--The first
door is used for stores; a fine Hall, the Merrimack
River Bank rooms, with offices are upon the second
floor; and the remainder of the block is fitted up

at Queens College, Belfast, before coming to America. He married
Isabella Guthrie, daughter of the well known physician Alexander

a beautiful brownstone building in NYC. The
steps are carved and highly ornate, with Victorian
era architectural leaves. This young Houghton
boy has a sailor suit with US navy insignia,
