There is a paper clipping that the baby doctor, Hardenbrook, was killed
aboard a cruise ship called the Duchess of Atholl off, the coast of Africa.

Davis, Noah (1818-1902) Half-uncle of Daniel Davis; second cousin once
removed of Joseph Pomeroy Root. Born in Haverhill, Grafton County,
N.H., September 10, 1818. Republican. Lawyer; Justice of New York Supreme
Court, 1857-68, 1873-87; U.S. Representative from New York 28th District,
1869-70; U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of New York,
1870-72. Presided over the two trials of "Boss" Tweed in 1873.
Died in New York, City, New York County, N.Y., March 20, 1902. Interment
at Mt. Albion Cemetery, Albion, N.Y. Note: other web research tells is that Judge Noah Davis (1818-1902) was a grandson of Lt. Noah Davis, Stafford,
CT. His dad, Noah Davis, Jr., was the son of Lt. Noah Davis and his
second wife, Anna Ladd. About 1805, Noah, Jr. left Stafford to Haverhill, New Hampshire, and worked
as a druggist. He married Freelove Arnold. Children: Noah, born 1818 was born there. In 1825, they moved to Albion,
New York. Young Noah was an exceptional student
attending common school and Lima Seminary in Buffalo, NY. He studied law
in Lewiston, was admitted to the bar in 1841 and practiced in Gainesville
and Buffalo for a short period of time. He returned to Albion in February
1844 and formed a partnership with Sanford E. Church, who was later chief justice of the NY court of appeals. Their partnership continued
until 1858. He was twice elected judge
of the Supreme Court for the 8th Judicial District and served 1857-1868,
then resuming his attorney practice. He was elected as a Republican
to the 41st Congress from the Rochester district, and resigned to accept an appointment
by President Grant as U.S. Attorney for the southern district of New
York. He served from 1870-1872
when he was then elected Judge of the Supreme Court of New
York state, held until 1887. In 1901, he resumed his law practice
New York City and was a member of the Council of the University
of the City of New York (now NYU). Noah died in New York City in 1902, and was buried in Mt. Albion Cemetery, Albion, Orleans County. Noah Davis was the presiding justice at the famous trials of William "Boss" Tweed,

Governor of Kansas, 1861-63; served in the Union Army during the Civil
War; U.S. Minister to Chile, 1870-73; delegate to Republican National
Convention from Kansas, 1884. Died in 1885. Burial location unknown.
