Utica is in Oneida and Onondaga County. Willie Bacon was hit Dec, 15th, had his leg amputated, and died within the next few days. This book is a wonderful, loving tribute presumably by a wealthy upper class father to his lost and beloved 20 year old son during the Civil War. He explains their genealogy line by saying that William was named after William Bacon of Stretton, Rutlandshire, England their "remotest ancestor." His son, Nathaniel Bacon came to Plymouth, Massachusetts and settled at Barnstable, Mass. in 1640. He was also named after his Uncle William Kirkland, who died many years before the book begins. Other people in their line: John Bacon, Ezekial Bacon, Gen, Joseph Kirkland, Cousins Edward Kirkland and Charles Kirkland, Cousin Lieut. "Neddy" or Edward Thornton Kirkland, Cousin Julia Holley. He mentions history of the regiment, including many other names. Black embossed cover is off the book, but intact. All pages intact, with some water staining. A touching and scarce Bacon family tribute. Found in New York State, in Oswego County NY. This actual book is for sale, but the scan available to view and buy from ancestorville is that of William's likeness, with his beautiful signature, "Your loving son, Willie." 1047 Youcum, Flood: 1870's CDV Carte de Visite Photograph of Reverend Youcum Written on item: "Pastor at Baptist Church, Yorktown, Civil War time, Rev. Youcum. His sons went to war with the Flood Boys" handwritten in pencil on reverse. Photo type: CDV or Carte de Visite Photograph. Age: 1870's. Photographer Name: Unmarked. Photo is trimmed on edges, usually to fit into photo albums, as many were. Does not affect image in any way. He looks to be in his later fifties, small round glasses. Found in Granby CT, Hartford County. Was his name Reverend Yocum? We found evidence of Flood boys who fought in the Civil War from Missouri, MO as well as Missouri Youcum boys in the Civil War database. There is a Yorktown, Missouri in Atchison County. This is just an educated guess, nothing more. 1048 Cox: 1849 Early Cox Family Bible with Cox Genealogy, NY This Cox Family Bible was printed in 1849 by The American Bible Society, New York. Between the Old and New Testament sections there are several pages dedicated to family records that lists Elijah Cox and Elizabeth Cox married Feb. 24, 1831, then continues to record the births and marriages of their offspring. Newark, NY is in Wayne and Tioga County. There is also a newspaper obituary of Mrs. Cox who died at the age of 71 years on Dec. 29, 1885 in Newark, New York. She had 7 children. It states that her children were all at her Newark, NY funeral, except one, a daughter who lives in Michigan. We assume this to be Elizabeth Cox, who married Elijah above. Reverend A.P. Burgess presided. There is also an early paper stuck in pages that states Elizabeth Bownell was born in 1814. She is most likely the first Cox, married to Elijah on Februay 24, 1831. Their daughter was Cordelia Cox, born 1832. Lydia Cox born 1835, etc...More names include: Harrison Cox, Cordelia Cox, Elijah cox, Clarison Cox or Eleanor A. Cox, (Eleanor Cox), Lydia, Caroline Davis, Josaph Sealey Cox born 1864, Walter, Elenor Cox, William Cox, Joshua Cox, Nancy Jane Cox (or Nancy Cox), James Cox, illegible name, may be Elias Cox or may be Eli Cox in census records. A great, early Cox family history piece chocked full of great Cox family info. We found evidence of Bownell family members in the surrounding Ontario, Allegany, and Livingston County, NY. Found in Upstate New York, near Livingston, Ontario and Monroe County. Census records might read Eli Cox, Cora Cox, Harry Cox, Harris Cox, Carrie Davis, Joseph Sealey, Joseph Sealey Cox, Eleanor Cox, Josh Cox, Nancy J. Cox.
