Crane, ME Name on card: Charles H. Crane handwritten on front in old
period pencil script 2 times and E. Livermore. (Note: East Livermore, Maine is in
Kennebec County) This is a beautiful
early coated cardstock card. Printed saying reads: "True friendship
is a gordian knot, Which angel hands have tied, By heavenly skill its
texture wrought, Who shall its folds divide?" Approximate age: 1840-50's.
Found in a large lot of 19th c. calling cards in the vicinity of Augusta,

2702 Sherman: 1977 Sherman Family History Genealogy Book This used
genealogy book was published by the American Genealogical Research
Institute and details the roots of the Sherman Family, Copyright
1977. It has some minor underlining in it, as it formerly belonged
to a Sherman family member of Enoch Sherman of West Rupert, Vermont,
in Bennington County, who married Caroline Seely. It explains that
the name Sherman is a derivative of Sharman or Shearman, one who
manufactures shears or shears sheep. Sherman Family related wife
